Advance Iterum – A Roman Strategy Game in Early Access

Evergreen IT AB is a Stockholm-based indie game studio and software consultancy with a passion for historically inspired strategy games. The company combines technical expertise with creative storytelling to build immersive, systems-driven experiences. Its flagship title, Iterum, is a real-time strategy game set in the Roman era, currently in Early Access on Steam. In addition to game development, Evergreen IT AB also provides IT solutions and digital tools for clients in the public and private sectors, with a strong focus on sustainability, usability, and long-term value. The game blends historical simulation with modern RTS mechanics and is built in a custom C++ game engine called the Evergreen Game Engine. We invite KTH students to explore one of the following areas—or propose a custom angle: - AI for Strategic Decision-Making: Improve enemy behavior, diplomacy, or resource management using rule-based or machine learning approaches. - Historical Simulation Systems: Model Roman-era logistics, agriculture, or military tactics with academic rigor. - Performance Optimization: Profile and enhance game performance for large-scale simulations. - UX for Strategy Games: Analyze player interaction and design intuitive interfaces for complex systems. - Modding & Extensibility: Develop tools or frameworks to support community-driven content.
