Software Engineer Internship or Part-time - Talendary (AI-startup) Recruitment is one of the most critical processes in any organization - yet it’s often inefficient and time-consuming. Talendary is changing that by building AI-driven solutions that make recruitment both more human and more efficient at scale. Our platform helps recruiters find the right talent faster and make better-informed hiring decisions. We’re now looking for a Software Engineer Intern to join our team. This isn’t a “sit and watch” internship - you’ll be hands-on from day one, building real features and seeing your work go live. You’ll work closely with our engineering team, experiment with new tools, and learn how to move fast in a real startup environment. Purpose of the Placement The purpose of this internship is to give you hands-on experience in a fast-growing AI startup while contributing directly to the development of our recruitment platform. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers, explore cutting-edge technologies, and see firsthand how startups iterate and scale. What You’ll Actually Do: - Design, develop, and enhance Talendary’s recruitment platform and backend systems - Build and optimize API integrations for performance and scalability - Collaborate with a tight-knit, ambitious team to ship fast and iterate often - Explore new technologies (we love trying new things) Our tech stack today: Python, Remix/React, Postgres, Supabase, and GCP. Six months ago it looked different, and six months from now it probably will again - so don’t worry if you don’t know them all. Our mission is simple but bold: Leverage AI to make hiring more human, efficient, and insightful Details Number of Students: 1-2 students Academic Credits & Workload: Flexible setup, can be 15 credits (half speed) or 30 credits (full speed) depending on your academic requirements. Start Date: We are flexible with start dates and can adapt to academic schedules. Work Environment: Our office is located in Mariatorget, Stockholm, where we work together in person to collaborate better, ship early, and iterate faster. The final hypothesis and research design will be defined together with the student and approved by their academic supervisor to ensure scientific rigor and alignment with their program’s requirements. 1. Improving Candidate Matching with Semantic Search Problem Statement: Traditional recruitment platforms often rely on keyword-based search, which struggles to understand context and semantic meaning in job descriptions and candidate resumes. Hypothesis: AI-driven semantic search (using embeddings or transformer-based models) can improve candidate-job matching accuracy and recruiter satisfaction compared to traditional keyword-based search. 2. Reducing Algorithmic Bias in AI Candidate Scoring Problem Statement: AI-driven recruitment tools risk introducing or amplifying bias in candidate ranking due to biased training data or model assumptions. Hypothesis: Integrating bias detection and mitigation techniques (e.g., fairness-aware machine learning) into Talendary’s candidate scoring model can improve fairness without reducing matching accuracy. 3. Predicting Candidate Success Beyond Matching Problem Statement: Matching candidates to job descriptions addresses fit on paper but does not predict real-world recruitment outcomes (e.g., progressing to interviews or hires). Hypothesis: Using machine learning to predict candidate progression (e.g., likelihood of interviews or hires) can enhance recruiter efficiency and improve overall quality of hires.
